Lillian Anita Steffens

Lillian Anita Steffens, 88, of San Diego, died Friday at Scripps Green Hospital. She was a former longtime resident of North Adams. Born in Williamstown on Aug. 17, 1918, daughter of Joseph and Elodie Boyer Bleau, she attended local schools. She moved to San Diego in 1999. Mrs. Steffens was employed as an electronics technician by the former Sprague Electric Co. for 36 years, retiring in 1981. She was a communicant and active member of Holy Family Church for 40 years and a past president of the North Adams French Club. While in California, she was a communicant and active member of St. Francis' Church and participated in its Altar and Rosary Society. Her husband, Raymond M. Steffens, whom she married June 16, 1937, died in 1979. She leaves two daughters, Denise Rice of Lakeville, Conn., and Cheryl Steffens of San Diego; six grandchildren; and nine great-grandchildren. FUNERAL NOTICE -- A Mass of Christian Burial for Lillian A. Steffens will be celebrated tomorrow, July 26 at 10 a.m. at St. Mary's Church in Lakeville, Conn. Burial will be in North Adams at Southview Cemetery. All other services are private. KENNY FUNERAL HOME, 41 Main St., Sharon, Conn., has care of arrangements. Mrs. Steffens also leaves her grandchildren, Jacqueline, Shelly, John Jr., Raymond, William and Michele; and great-grandchildren, Brook, William, John III, Patrick, Nicholas, Magnolia, Alexander, Charles and Kayla.
