William R. Voorhees

William R. Voorhees, 76, of 37 Kalliste Hill Road died Sunday at his home. Born in Roselle, N.J., on Jan. 14, 1931, son of William R. and Martha Macecsko Voorhees, he was a 1949 graduate of Plainfield (N.J.) High School. He also attended Bucknell University from 1950 to 1952 and was a 1957 graduate of Columbia University with a bachelor's degree in industrial engineering. He was an Army veteran of the Korean War. Mr. Voorhees was employed by Colgate Palmolive Co. for 33 years, retiring as director of the industrial and institutional division in 1986. He enjoyed skiing, playing tennis and golf, and reading. Mr. Voorhees and his wife, the former Joan Fitzpatrick, were married March 14, 1981 in New York City. Besides his wife, he leaves two sons, Peter G. Voorhees of Naples, N.Y., and Christopher W. Voorhees of Chapel Hill, N.C.; a daughter, Susan H. DeFrancesco of Stonington, Conn.; and two grandchildren. FUNERAL NOTICE -- Services and burial for William R. Voorhees, who died Sunday, July 29, 2007, will be private and at the convenience of the family. BIRCHES-ROY FUNERAL HOME is in charge of arrangements. Mr. Voorhees leaves his grandchildren, Mikko Rich Voorhees and Brody Rich Voorhees. He was predeceased by a brother, Robert Voorhees.
