Ronald E. Gaiton

Ronald E. Gaiton, 77, of Otis, died Tuesday at the Berkshire Medical Center in Pittsfield. Born in Staten Island, N.Y. July 29, 1930, son of Joseph and Helen Schaefer Gaiton, he was a 1948 graduate of New Dorp High School on Staten Island and then attended Brooklyn College School of Architecture. He served with the Air Force during the Korean War from Jan. 3, 1950, until Nov. 9, 1953, and in the Air Force Reserve until being discharged as an airman first class Nov. 9, 1958. In 1956, he went to work for the New York City Transit Authority, retiring in 1986 as a sheet metal foreman. After retiring, he moved to Otis and was a member of the First Congregational Church of Lee. He leaves his wife, the former Patricia Lipnicki, whom he married July 29, 1956. Besides his wife, he leaves two daughters, Lori A. Gaiton and Karen M. Crandall, both of Otis; a brother, Joseph Gaiton of Hayesville, N.C.; and two grandchildren. FUNERAL NOTICE -- Ronald E. Gaiton, who died Tuesday, July 31, 2007, wished to be cremated and not have visitation. After cremation, a private interment will be at the Ocean View The Cemetery Beautiful in the family plot on Staten Island, N.Y. KELLY FUNERAL HOME is in charge of arrangements. Mr. Gaiton leaves his loving grandchildren, Raymond C. and Alison M. Crandall.
