Elinor A. Becker, 82, of Pittsfield died Sunday at the home of her daughter, Gail I. Becker of Edward Avenue. Born on Aug. 31, 1924, daughter of Franklin and Irene Abbott Capen, she attended the former Dalton High School. Mrs. Becker was a cook at the former Edgecombe Nursing Home in Lenox for many years, retiring in 1989. She enjoyed nature walks, gardening, crocheting, knitting and cooking. Her husband, George L. Becker, whom she married Sept. 27, 1947, died Oct. 10, 1989. Besides her daughter, she leaves three grandchildren and a great-grandchild. FUNERAL NOTICE -- Calling hours for Elinor A. Becker, who died Sunday, Aug. 12, 2007, will be Tuesday from 4 to 6 p.m. at WELLINGTON FUNERAL HOME, 220 East St., Pittsfield. Following cremation, burial will be private and at a later date in Dalton Cemetery. In lieu of flowers, donations may be made in her memory to the Center for Sarcoma and Connective Tissue, 55 Fruit St., Suite 3B-3700, Boston, MA 02114. She also leaves three grandchildren, Kellie VanBramer, True Chelstowski and Jasmine Becker; and a great-grandchild, Olivia VanBramer.
