Richard Edward Cook

Richard Edward Cook, 63, of 265 Savoy Road, died Wednesday at his home. Born in North Adams on Oct. 28, 1943, son of the late Alfred R. and Anna Blake Cook, he attended local schools. Mr. Cook was employed as a maintenance worker by Roto Rooter in Cheshire. He also served as an Auxiliary Police officer for the city of North Adams. Before that, he was employed as a cook by North Adams Regional Hospital, and also worked at the former Prime Tannery and as a security guard for Burns Security. He enjoyed hunting, fishing, gardening, making crafts and playing the card game UNO. In his younger years, he played the drums in his brother's band, "The Electrodes." He also played the keyboard and was a fan of Elvis Presley and 50s and 60s music. He married the former Joan Rusek on April 11, 1981 in Adams. Besides his wife, he leaves two sisters, Barbara A. Harris of Melbourne, Fla., and Gail J. Arnold of Stamford, Vt., and a brother, James A. Cook of Fort Collins, Colo. FUNERAL NOTICE -- Services for Richard E. Cook, who died Wednesday, Aug. 15, 2007, are private. Burial will be at the convenience of the family. Memorial contributions may be made in his memory in care of FLYNN & DAGNOLI-MONTAGNA HOME FOR FUNERALS, Central Chapels, 74 Marshall St., North Adams, MA 01247, which is in charge of arrangements. Mr. Cook also leaves several aunts, uncles, nieces, nephews, and cousins.
