Hazel Mae Tubbs Dimitroplis

Hazel Mae Tubbs Dimitroplis, 88, formerly of 33 Francis Plaza, died yesterday at Hillcrest Commons, where she had resided since April. Born in Pittsfield on Nov. 28, 1918, daughter of Harry P. and Gladys Godfrey Gaylord, she attended local schools. Mrs. Dimitroplis was a homemaker. She enjoyed embroidering, playing the harmonica and dancing. Her first husband, George H. Tubbs Sr., died Oct. 21, 1957. Her husband, James Dimitroplis, died July 24, 1992. She leaves two sons, Ernest J. Tubbs of Hinsdale and Robert F. Tubbs of Pittsfield; two daughters, Frances Hazel St. John of Pittsfield and Beatrice E. Nutbrown of Dalton; a brother, Alfred Gaylord of Connecticut; a sister, Florence Amlaw of Pittsfield; 26 grandchildren; 32 great-grandchildren; and three great-great-grandchildren. She was predeceased by a son, George H. Tubbs Jr., and by two daughters, Barbara Laurent and Evelyn Clark. FUNERAL NOTICE -- The funeral for Hazel M. Tubbs Dimitroplis, who died Wednesday, Aug. 29, 2007, will be conducted Friday at 11 a.m. at DERY FUNERAL HOME, 54 Bradford St., Pittsfield, by the Rev. William D. Furey. Burial will follow in Pittsfield Cemetery. Calling hours at the funeral home will be today from 3 to 5 p.m. In lieu of flowers, memorial donations may be made to Elder Services of Berkshire County or to HospiceCare in the Berkshires, both in care of the funeral home.
