Donald F. Cruikshank
SHEFFIELD — Donald F. Cruikshank, 88, of 525 Hewins St. died Wednesday, Sept. 5, 2007, at Fairview Hospital in Great Barrington.
Born in New Marlborough on Nov. 21, 1918, son of Benjamin and Cora Gibson Cruikshank, he attended local schools and was a 1935 graduate of the former New Marlborough High School.
An Army veteran of World War II, he served as a surgical technician, third grade, with Unit 1110 of the medical section service command in the Rome-Arno, North Apennines and Po Valley campaigns and received many decorations and citations.
Mr. Cruikshank was the manager of Foster's Air Conditioning and Heating in Pittsfield for more than 30 years, retiring at the age of 65.
He enjoyed woodworking, fishing, gardening and playing golf.
He and his wife, the former Audrey Riiska, were married May 8, 1943, in Norfolk, Conn.
Besides his wife, he leaves two daughters, Terry Cruikshank of Cherryhill, N.J., and Sally Gaarn of El Paso, Texas; and a grandchild, Karly Bader.
FUNERAL NOTICE — A graveside service for Donald F. Cruikshank will be conducted Saturday at noon at Lee Memorial Cemetery in Southfield by the Rev. Brian Care.
There will be no calling hours. Expressions of sympathy in Don's memory may be made to Old Parish Church, Sheffield, in care of Birches-Roy Funeral Home, 33 South St., Great Barrington, MA 01230, which is in charge of arrangements.
