Eleanor L. Turner

Eleanor L. Turner, 93, of 27 Summer St. died yesterday at home. Born in Pittsfield on Nov. 27, 1913, daughter of Thayer and Lucy Pratt Farnam, she was a member of the first graduating class of Pittsfield High School, in 1932. Mrs. Turner was postmaster in Lanesborough for 25 years. She was a member of St. Luke's Episcopal Church, where she sang in the choir and taught Sunday school. She enjoyed stamp collecting and was a former Scout leader and den mother. She was active with the 4-H Club and participated in the Girls' Friendly Group at St. George's Church. Her husband, Donald L. Turner, whom she married Sept. 25, 1937, died Feb. 25, 1945. She leaves a sister, Sarah Shallies of Lanesborough. FUNERAL NOTICE -- Services for Eleanor L. Turner, who died Wednesday, Sept. 26, 2007, will be conducted Saturday at 11 a.m. at St. Luke's Episcopal Church in Lanesborough by the Rev. Donna Trebilcox. Following cremation, burial will be be in Riverside Cemetery. Calling hours will be Friday from 4 to 7 p.m. at WELLINGTON FUNERAL HOME in Pittsfield. Donations in her memory are suggested to either St. Luke's Episcopal Church or HospiceCare in the Berkshires, in care of the funeral home, 220 East St., Pittsfield, MA 01201. She also leaves three nieces; six nephews; and numerous great- and great-great-nieces and -great-nephews. She was predeceased by a sister, Esther Turner. She loved animals.
