Alice L. Gagne

Alice L. Gagne, 88, of 14 South Pine St., died Wednesday at Berkshire Medical Center in Pittsfield. Born in Stowe, Vt., on June 27, 1919, she was a 1937 graduate of St. Michael's High School in Montpelier, Vt., and had attended Bay Path Junior College. After college, she traveled throughout the United States with her husband during his World War II service. In the late 1940s, she returned to Vermont, and in 1952, moved to Springfield. Mrs. Gagne moved to Otis in 1970, and worked at area nursing homes. While in Vermont and Springfield, she was a foster parent. Her husband, Merrill J. Gagne, whom she married Feb. 7, 1942, died Aug. 27, 1990. She leaves a son, James A. Gagne of Otis; two daughters, Robin L. Sudsbury of Holyoke, and Merrilyn A. Gagne of Granville; six grandchildren; and three great-grandchildren. FUNERAL NOTICE -- A Liturgy of Christian Burial for Alice Gagne, who died Wednesday, Oct. 3, 2007, will be conducted Saturday at 10 a.m. at St. Mary's of The Lakes Catholic Church in Otis by the Rev. James Bresnahan, SJ. Burial will follow in Otis Cemetery. Visiting hours will be today from 5 to 8 p.m. at the KELLY FUNERAL HOME. In lieu of flowers, friends wishing may make donations to the Otis Fire Department Rescue Squad care of the funeral home, 3 Main St., Lee, MA 01238.
