James M. Gibbons

James M. Gibbons, 46, of East Norriton, Pa., formerly of Cheshire and Auburn, died Monday at Temple University Hospital in Philadelphia. He left the area in 1998. Born in Webster on July 23, 1961, son of David J. and Virginia Burhoe Gibbons, he was a 1979 graduate of Auburn High School, and a 1983 graduate Wentworth Institute of Technology. Mr. Gibbons was employed as a firefighter in Cheshire. He was also employed as a systems safety engineer with Boeing Helicopter. In August 2007, he received the Systems Safety Society Engineer of the Year award. While in Cheshire, he was an assistant Scout Master and a member of the ski patrol at Brodie Mountain. He enjoyed camping and backpacking. Mr. Gibbons leaves his wife of 20 years, the former Laurie Caldwell. Besides his parents, of Sandwich, and wife, he leaves three sons, Michael Jameson Gibbons, Patrick Ryan Gibbons, and Shaun Thomas Gibbons, all of Norriton, Pa.; three sisters, Alice L. DiPace of Sudbury, Maura Keegan of Rindge, N.H., and Ann Harmer Bellaire, Mich.; three brothers, David G. Gibbons of Lawrenceville, Ga., John F. Gibbons of Bourne, and Richard Gibbons Sanbornton, N.H. FUNERAL NOTICE -- Relatives and friends are invited to a celebration service of the life of James M. Gibbons, who died Monday Oct. 1, 2007, on Sunday from 1 to 3:30 p.m. at BOYD-HORROX FUNERAL HOME of East Norriton, Pa. Services will begin at 4 p.m. Interment will be private. The family has allergies and request no flowers. In lieu of flowers, donations can be made to the James M. Gibbons Memorial Account c/o Commerce Bank 1799 Swede Road, Blue Bell, PA 19422 or the Gift of Life Donor Program 401 North Third St., Philadelphia, PA 19123. Mr. Gibbons leaves his father- and mother-in-law, Charles and Doloris "Dee" Caldwell; and was the brother-in-law of Roger and Mary Catherine Caldwell, Dennis Caldwell, Frank DiPace, Richard Keegan, Ray Harmer, Audrey and Thomas Cullen, Linda and Daniel Clifford, Jean Gibbons, Terri Gibbons and Judy Gibbons.
