Ruth M. LaChapelle

Ruth M. LaChapelle, 95, of Becket, died Sunday at home. Born in Pittsfield on Feb. 23, 1912, daughter of John B. and Mary J. Briggs Bennett, she had been a resident of Becket for 40 years before she moved to live with her daughter in Roxbury, Conn. for the past two years. Mrs. LaChapelle was employed as a district manager for Bradlees in Connecticut for many years. She was a communicant of St. Thomas Church in Huntington and St. John's Mission in Chester. She was a member of the Women's Auxiliary in Becket and a chaplain of the VFW in Becket. She was predeceased by her husband Clarence F. LaChapelle Sr. Mrs. LaChapelle leaves eight sons, Clarence F. LaChapelle Jr. of Coventry, Conn., Theodore A. LaChapelle of Marlborough, Conn., Gerard A. LaChapelle of Manchester, Conn., Frederick J. LaChapelle of Bolton, Conn., Joseph P. LaChapelle of Charlemont, Gregory A. LaChapelle of Coventry, Conn., Dennis H. LaChapelle of Becket, and David H. LaChapelle of E. Hartford, Conn.; four daughters, Mary T. Bendoraitis-Mazzochi of Harwinton, Conn., Eileen R. Fuller of Manchester, Conn., Judy A. Fuller of S. Windsor, Conn., and Margaret R. Yonika of Roxbury, Conn.; a sister, Rita M. Marra of Los Angeles; 46 grandchildren; 78 great-grandchildren; and 10 great-great grandchildren. She was predeceased by a son, John C. LaChapelle, a grandchild, and two great-grandchildren. FUNERAL NOTICE -- Services for Ruth M. LaChapelle who died Sunday, Oct. 14, 2007, will be held on Friday at 11 a.m. at St. Thomas Church in Huntington. A calling hour will precede the funeral at 9:30 a.m. at the O'BRIEN HILLTOWN COMMUNITY FUNERAL HOME, 27 Russell Road, Huntington. Burial will follow in St. Thomas Cemetery. Donations may be made to St. Jude's Children's Research Hospital, 501 St. Jude Place, Memphis, TN 38105 or to Regional Hospice, 405 Main St., Danbury, CT 06810.
