Bernadette M. Barbeau, 71

NORTH ADAMS, Mass. — Bernadette Marie Barbeau, 71, of 81 Holbrook St. died Friday, Oct. 26, 2007, at North Adams Regional Hospital. Born in North Adams on Feb. 16, 1936, daughter of Frank E. and Pauline LeGrand Fortini, she graduated from Drury High School in 1955. Mrs. Barbeau was employed by Drury High School in the cafeteria, retiring in 1993. Before that, she worked at the former Florini's Italian Gardens restaurant, at Pedrin's Dairy Bar, at the former Coury's Drive-in Theater and at the former Sprague Electric Co. She was a communicant of St. Anthony's Church and a former longtime communicant of the former Notre Dame Church. She enjoyed playing bingo, crocheting, reading, and doing crossword puzzles and cryptograms. Since 1980, she had spent summers at her camp at Lake Cossayuna in Argyle, N.Y. She and her husband, Richard Arthur Barbeau, celebrated their 51st anniversary July 14. Besides her husband, she leaves two sons, Mark Edward Barbeau and his wife, Laurie, and Paul Ernest Barbeau, with whom she resided, all of North Adams; two sisters, Veronica Landry and Barbara Rondeau, both of North Adams; two brothers, Robert Fortini of North Adams and William Fortini of Adams; three grandchildren, Mandy Morin, and Justine and Steven Barbeau, and nieces, nephews, grandnieces and grandnephews. She was predeceased by a sister, Rita Pedrin, and by three brothers, Donald, John and Frank Fortini. FUNERAL NOTICE — The funeral for Mrs. Barbeau will be conducted Tuesday at 10:15 a.m. at FLYNN & DAGNOLI-MONTAGNA Home for Funerals, West Chapels, 521 West Main St., North Adams, with a Liturgy of Christian Burial at 11 a.m. at St. Anthony's Church, 64 Marshall St., North Adams. Burial will follow in Southview Cemetery. Calling hours at the funeral home will be today from 4 to 7 p.m. In lieu of flowers, memorial donations are suggested for the National Multiple Sclerosis Society through the funeral home.
