Helen L. Zanconato, 88

WEST STOCKBRIDGE - Helen L. Zanconato, 88, of State Line Road, died early Monday morning, Feb. 4, 2008, at Berkshire Medical Center in Pittsfield. Born in Brattleboro, Vt., on Oct. 6, 1919, the daughter of Raymond D. and Gladys Birch Barrett, her family moved to the Berkshires when she was an infant and she attended the former Williams High School in Stockbridge. Primarily a homemaker, Mrs. Zanconato worked for a short time at the former Individual Laundry in Great Barrington and David's Hat Factory in Housatonic. She was a devoted mother, grandmother, and great-grandmother who cherished spending time with her family. She was a communicant of St. Patrick's Church and a leader for the Girl Scouts and 4-H Club. She enjoyed sewing and embroidery and won numerous ribbons at the Great Barrington and Richmond fairs for her exceptional embroidery work. Her husband, Vasco F. Zanconato, whom she married Feb. 26, 1938, in St. Patrick's Church, died Oct. 20, 2007. She leaves four daughters, Anita Norton and her husband, Joseph, of Pittsfield, Helen Nolan of West Stockbridge, Lenora Campoli and her husband, Peter, of Bedford and Linda Ewing and her husband, Michael, of Colonie, N.Y.; a brother, Clarence Barrett of Lady Lake, Fla.; 11 grandchildren, 11 great-grandchildren and several nieces and nephews. She was predeceased by her son. Vasco F. Zanconato Jr., grandson William F. Nolan III, four brothers, Francis, Clement, David and Richard Barrett and four sisters, Jean Hatch, Beverly Rawlings, Elizabeth Simon and Alma Hospod. FUNERAL NOTICE - A Liturgy of Christian Burial will be celebrated on Friday, Feb. 8, at 11 a.m. at St. Patrick's Church in West Stockbridge by the Rev. Christopher J. Waitekus, pastor. Burial will follow in St. Patrick's Cemetery in West Stockbridge. The family will receive friends on Thursday, Feb. 7, from 4 until 7 at Finnerty & Stevens Funeral Home in Great Barrington. Those who desire, may make memorial contributions to either St. Patrick's Church or the Richmond Community Health Program through the funeral home, 426 Main St., Great Barrington, MA 01230.
