SHEFFIELD - Phyllis L. Smith, 73, of Dewey Way died Wednesday, Feb. 13, 2008, at home. Born at home in Sheffield on July 19, 1934, daughter of Edward L. and Marge Markham Bradley, she attended local schools and graduated from the former Sheffield High School. Mrs. Smith worked as a secretary in the dental office of Dr. Gary Hutton in Sheffield for 12 years until 1995, when he closed his practice in Sheffield. She then went to work for the Southern Berkshire Elderly Transportation Co., retiring in 2000. She was a member of the Sheffield Historical Society. An avid reader, she also enjoyed knitting and traveling, and cherished time spent with her family. She leaves two sons and daughters-in-law, Wayne R. and Joan Smith and Dale M. Margie Smith, all of Southfield; a brother, E. Mark Bradley of Great Barrington; a sister, Lovina Gulotta of Sheffield; two stepgrandchildren and four stepgreat-grandchildren. FUNERAL NOTICE - Funeral services for Phyllis L. Smith will be conducted Monday, Feb. 18, at 1 p.m. from Finnerty & Stevens Funeral Home in Great Barrington by the Rev. Jill Graham, pastor of Old Parish Church in Sheffield. Burial will be in the spring. The family will receive friends Monday noon until the time of the service at the funeral home.
