Lotte E. Goden, 93

GREAT BARRINGTON - Lotte Emma Goden, 93, formerly of Silver Street, died Tuesday, Feb. 26, 2008, at Timberlyn Heights Nursing Center. Born in Hamburg, Germany, on Dec. 2, 1914, the daughter of Friedrich and Georgine Amerlan Klose, she attended schools in Hamburg. She moved to the Berkshires in 1961. Primarily a homemaker, Mrs. Goden worked for Becton Dickinson & Co. in Canaan, Conn., for nine years, retiring in 1973. She spent much of her time at the Claire Teague Senior Center and, when she was able, traveled the world. She was an excellent seamstress and enjoyed crocheting, needlework and tending to her garden. Above all else, Mrs. Goden cherished spending time with her family. Her husband, Walter Goden, whom she married in Hamburg in 1935, died in 1973. She leaves a daughter and son-in-law, Erika and David L. Sheldon of Egremont; a grandson, David W. Sheldon; a granddaughter, Heidi Fortune; four great-grandchildren, Karilyn and Kathryn Sheldon and Trent and Erika Fortune, and a niece, Lotti Klauss. She was predeceased by two brothers and three sisters. FUNERAL NOTICE - Funeral services will be conducted Monday, March 3, at 2 p.m. at Finnerty & Stevens Funeral Home in Great Barrington by the Rev. Charles VanAusdall, pastor of First Congregational Church. The family will receive friends on Monday from noon until the time of the service at the funeral home.
