Margaret K. Stevens, 93

NEW MARLBOROUGH - Margaret Kirk Burnett Stevens, 93, a resident of Southfield for six decades, died Friday, Feb. 29, 2008, at Tidewell Hospice in Sarasota, Fla. Born in Phelps, N.Y., on Feb. 9, 1915, she was one of eight children of Charles W. and Agnes H. Kirk Burnett. She received her bachelor's degree in mathematics in 1936 from the former New York State College for Teachers, now State University of New York at Albany. She moved to Southfield in 1945 and had also resided in Nokomis, Fla., for nearly 30 years. Mrs. Stevens was employed by the U.S. Postal Service in Southfield, retiring in the mid-1970s. She was an active, longtime member of the United Church of New Marlborough. Her husband, Myles R. Stevens, whom she married March 10, 1946, in Lyons, N.Y., died July 16, 2007. She is survived by many nieces and nephews, and grandnieces and grandnephews. FUNERAL NOTICE - A memorial gathering to celebrate the life of Margaret Stevens will be held at a later date to be announced.
