Raymond J. Keefner Sr., 92

GREAT BARRINGTON - Raymond J. Keefner Sr., 92, of 31 Fairview Terrace, died Sunday, March 16, 2008 at home. Born in Housatonic on June 21, 1915, son of John and Carrie Race Keefner, he attended schools in Lanesborough. Mr. Keefner worked for Clark and Aiken as a lathe operator, retiring in 1980 after 39 years of employment. He also worked for Graves and Hemis Contractors and worked building Tanglewood. He was a member of the Civilian Conservation Corps. He leaves his wife, the former Beverly Stanard, whom he married in 1981 at the First Congregational Church in Great Barrington. Besides his wife, he leaves two sons, Raymond J. Jr., and Edward A., both of Great Barrington; two daughters, Joan M. Blodgett, and Rosemary R. Crine, both of Great Barrington; two brothers, Robert of Austerlitz, N.Y., and Richard of Great Barrington; three sisters, Sylvia Eichstedt of Great Barrington, Marion Eastman, of Springfield, Vt., and Pat Pixley, of Valatia, N.Y, and many grandchildren, great-grandchildren, and great -great-grandchildren. FUNERAL NOTICE â€' A graveside service for Raymond J. Keefner Sr., who died March 16, will be held Thursday, March 20, at 1 p.m. at Elmwood Cemetery with the Rev. Charles Van Ausdall, officiating. There will be no calling hours. Expressions of sympathy in Raymond's memory may be made to Hospice Care in the Berkshires or to the Berkshire Humane Society both in care of the BIRCHES-ROY FUNERAL HOME, 33 South Street, Great Barrington, MA. 01230 which is in charge of arrangements.
