Antonio Zamperini, 73

SHEFFIELD - Antonio "Frank" Zamperini, 73, of 277 County Road died Saturday, March 22, 2008, at home. Born in Sheffield on Jan. 4, 1935, son of Carlo and Marcella Battistoni Zamperini, he attended local schools. An Army veteran, he served during the Vietnam War. Mr. Zamperini worked for Berkshire Engineering for many years and, from 1979 to 2007, was the owner of Frank's Pool Service. He was a handyman who could fix anything. He and his wife, the former Beatrice Swan, were married on Oct. 27, 1956, in Our Lady of the Valley Church. Besides his wife, he leaves two daughters, Deborah Hewins, of Canaan, Conn., and Teresa Zamperini of Albany, N.Y.; a sister, Rose Rote of Sheffield; two grandchildren, Rebecca and Dustin Hewins; two nephews, Scott and Bryan Rote, and a niece, Carla Cross. FUNERAL NOTICE - In keeping with Mr. Zamperini's wishes, there will be no calling hours. Funeral services and burial will be private and at the convenience of the family. Expressions of sympathy in his memory may be made to the Leukemia-Lymphoma Association in care of the BIRCHES-ROY FUNERAL HOME, 33 South St., Great Barrington, MA 01230, which is in charge of arrangements.
