GREAT BARRINGTON - Helen Kandler, 97, of Chapel Road, Winchester, Conn., died on Saturday, March 22, 2008, at Fairview Commons Nursing Facility. Born in Tivoli, N.Y, on July 10, 1910, daughter of John D.and Ida May Pulver Quimby, she graduated from Tivoli High School in 1928. Mrs. Kandler was a self-employed real estate agent. She was a member of the Winchester Grange and enjoyed reading and working outside. Her husband, Karl A. Kandler, whom she married on Nov. 7, 1934, in Tivoli, is deceased. She leaves a daughter, Audrey Riiska of Sandisfield; a grandson, Austin J. Riiska of Sandisfield; four granddaughters, Jeanne Mac Burniey and Helene Riiska, both of Sandisfield, Kathleen Riiska-Lovejoy of Colebrook, Conn., and Brenda Riiska of Winchester Center, Conn., eight great-grandchildren and four great-great-grandchildren. She was predeceased by a brother, two sisters and a great-grandson. FUNERAL NOTICE â€' A graveside service will be held at a later date at Winchester (Conn.) Cemetery. There will be no calling hours.
