Betty J. Decker, 70
STOCKBRIDGE — Betty J. Decker, 70, a longtime resident of Vine Street, died Wednesday, April 16, 2008, at Berkshire Medical Center in Pittsfield.
Born in Pittsfield on Sept. 24, 1937, daughter of Albert B. and Marion Love Dean, she attended schools there and was a 1956 graduate of Pittsfield High School.
Primarily a homemaker, Mrs. Decker was devoted to her family. She enjoyed family gatherings, working in her garden and was an avid Boston Red Sox fan.
She was a member of First Congregational Church in Stockbridge for many years.
Her husband, Elliott H. Decker, whom she married on Aug. 26, 1956, in Pilgrim Memorial Church in Pittsfield, died Oct. 4, 1995.
She leaves two sons, John A. Decker and his wife, Theresa, and Jody A. Decker and his wife, Kris, all of South Lee; a brother, Roger W. Dean of Hancock; her good friend Leamon Rider of Stockbridge, eight grandchildren and several nieces and nephews.
She was predeceased by another brother, Albert B. Dean, in 1990.
FUNERAL NOTICE — The family of Betty J. Decker invites everyone to join them for a service celebrating her life on Tuesday, April 22, at 2 p.m. at Pittsfield Cemetery, conducted by the Rev. Steven Bridges, pastor of First Congregational Church in Stockbridge.
The family will receive friends at Crissy Farm, 424 Stockbridge Road, Great Barrington, at 4 p.m. on Tuesday to share reflections and memories.
