Edward G. Cleary, 91
NEW MARLBOROUGH â€' Edward George Cleary, 91, of Hartsville, New Marlborough Road, died Saturday, May 3, 2008 at home.
Born in Brooklyn, N.Y., on Oct. 12, 1916, son of Walter and Ella VanBussum Cleary, he graduated from Brooklyn Technical School. He moved to New Marlborough from Brooklyn three years ago to be closer to his family.
Mr. Cleary was employed as an electrician with the New York Transit Authority for many years before retiring in 1978.
He was a communicant of St. Edmund's Church in Brooklyn, where he was also an usher. He enjoyed bowling and cherished spending time with his family.
His wife, the former Helen Bertschinger, whom he married on Nov. 30, 1946, in Brooklyn, died on Jan. 27, 2002.
He leaves two sons, Eugene Cleary and his wife, Maria Pizzuro-Cleary, of New Marlborough and Edward G. Cleary Jr. of Queens, N.Y.; a daughter, Cornelia Webster and her husband, Ben, of Southfield, five grandchildren, Eric and Joseph Cleary, Wenonah, Julie and Abby Webster, and a great-granddaughter, Mariella Cleary.
He was predeceased by a grandson, Eugene Cleary Jr. in 1986.
FUNERAL NOTICE â€' Funeral services for Edward G. Cleary will be held in Brooklyn. There will be no calling hours.
