Eleanor Kimberley, 97
SANDISFIELD — Eleanor Kimberley, 97, of Sandisfield died Sunday, July 20, 2008, at Fairview Hospital in Great Barrington.
Born in Monterey on Sept. 20, 1910, she was the daughter of Noel and Hattie Spencer-Hart.
Mrs. Kimberley worked at Tassone's Photography Studio in Great Barrington for several years. She loved nature and enjoyed photographing it. She took a home-study course in coloring photographs and was a member of the Great Barrington and Berkshire Museum camera clubs, the Click Chicks East and the Photographic Society of America.
She was a member of Monterey United Church of Christ and the former Christian Endeavor Society. She taught Sunday school in Monterey and was den mother for Cub Scouts in Otis.
She had been a member of the Monterey and Berkshire South Pomona granges and was active in 4-H as a member of the calf club, sewing club, garden, canning and room-improvement clubs. She later led younger girls in 4-H sewing and canning projects. Mrs. Kimberley also was a member of the Audubon Society and American Poetry Society, and wrote poems, many of which were published. She was once the oldest participant in the annual Walk for the Homeless.
Her husband, Claude B. Kimberley, died in 1992.
She leaves two sons, Robert Kimberley of West Otis and Ronald Kimberley of Sandisfield, seven grandchildren and six great-grandchildren.
FUNERAL NOTICE — A memorial service for Eleanor Kimberley will be held on Friday, July 25, from 6 to 9 p.m. at Berkshire Hills Baptist Church, Old Pleasant Street, Lee. A funeral service will be held on Saturday, July 26, at 10 a.m. at BIRCHES-ROY FUNERAL HOME, with Pastor Doug Mann officiating. Burial will follow in Otis Cemetery. A calling hour will precede the service at the funeral home beginning at 9 a.m.
