Jean Frengs, 87

SHEFFIELD - Jean Frengs, 87, of Hewins Street died Wednesday evening, Aug. 6, 2008, at Fairview Hospital in Great Barrington. Born in Chiswick, England, on May 18, 1921, daughter of Ernest A. and Christabel Durand Fraser, the family moved to Westchester County in New York when she was young. She attended schools there and graduated from Pleasantville High School in 1939. She then attended Wilfred Academy, a beautician college. She also had lived in Washington, D.C., while her husband was in the service and moved to Sheffield in 1947. Primarily a homemaker, Mrs. Freng had worked as a hairdresser in Chappaqua, N.Y., and later as a quality control inspector for General Electric in Bridgeport, Conn. When her children were young, Mrs. Freng was active in the 4-H. She was a dedicated wife, mother, grandmother and great-grandmother. She enjoyed reading and knitting and spending time at the Sheffield Senior Center. She and her husband, Peter F. Frengs, were married June 18, 1944, in Holy Rosary Church in Thornwood, N.Y. Besides her husband, she leaves two sons, Frederick W. Frengs and his wife, Rachel, of Sheffield and Kenneth Frengs of Belhaven, N.C.; two daughters, Kathy MacDowell and her husband, Rick, of Sheffield and Jean Harvey and her husband, Peter, of Gallatin, Tenn.; a sister, Rita Kronenbitter of Tinton Falls, N.J.; six grandchildren, Kimberly Harvey Turnbull, Kyle Harvey, Benjamin Harvey, Matthew Frengs, Brian Tyler and Keith Tyler; a stepgranddaughter, Elissa MacDowell, and two great-grandchildren, Elena and Eric Turnbull. She was predeceased by another son, Peter Frengs, in 1955, and three sisters, her twin Florence Travis, Cordilia Schlick and Agnes Parthemore. FUNERAL NOTICE â€' Funeral services will be private.
