Eleanor Kronick, 89

NORTH ADAMS, Mass. — Eleanor Kronick, 89, of 1 Overlook Terrace, died Sunday, Dec. 14, 2008, at North Adams Commons. Born in North Adams on Dec. 28, 1918, daughter of Charles Z. and Lena Ershler Kronick, she attended city schools and graduated from Drury High School with the class of 1936. She graduated from Smith College in 1940 and received her master's degree in social work from Smith in 1944. Miss Kronick was a teacher at Drury High School and last taught at Mount Vernon (N.Y.) High School for eight years until her retirement in 1974. She was first employed as a social worker at Beth Israel Hospital in Boston and at Mount Sinai Hospital in New York City. She was a member of Congregation Beth Israel. She was a former member of the Massachusetts Teachers Association, the Mount Vernon Teachers Association and the National Association of Social Workers. Miss Kronick was the last of her family; her brothers, Herbert Kronick and Payson Kronick, are deceased. She leaves her caregiver, Susan Coviello of Adams. FUNERAL NOTICE — Graveside services for Eleanor Kronick will be conducted Tuesday, Dec. 16, at 2 p.m. at Beth Israel Cemetery in Clarksburg by Rabbi Jeffrey Goldwasser. There will be no calling hours. Memorial contributions may be made to the charity of the donor's choice in care of Flynn & Dagnoli-Montagna Home For Funerals, West Chapels, 74 Marshall St. North Adams, MA 01247.
