Lois Fitzroy Flanagan, 79
NORTH ADAMS, Mass. — Lois Mary Fitzroy Flanagan, 79, of 1 Cherokee Drive died Sunday, May 10, 2009, at Sweet Brook Care Centers in Williamstown.
Born in Charlemont on Jan. 9, 1930, daughter of Carl and Eva Shumway Porrovecchio, she graduated from the former Charlemont High School and attended the University of Massachusetts and the former North Adams State College.
Mrs. Flanagan had worked in a number of local restaurants, most recently as a waitress at the former Four Acres Restaurant in Williamstown. She also had worked at the Williams Inn, the Plantation House in Charlemont, the Charlemont Inn and the Red Rose. She also owned Decorative Hands in Williamstown for a few years.
She was a member of Mount Peak Rebekah Lodge 162 and was a past noble grand of the lodge in Charlemont. She enjoyed cooking, decorating and feeding birds.
Her first husband, Alton P. Fitzroy Jr., is deceased.
She leaves her husband, James J. Flanagan, whom she married on Oct. 21, 1979, in Charlemont; a son, Bradley Fitzroy of Oneida, Ky.; two daughters, Diane Gingras and Tina Davis, both of Charlemont; three stepchildren, Stephen Flanagan of North Adams, Deborah Flanagan of West Chesterfield, N.H., and Sharyl Flanagan of Dover, N.H.; two brothers, Carl C. Porrovecchio Jr. of Bernardston and Lewis Porrovecchio of Shelburne Falls; 10 grandchildren, six great-grandchildren
and nieces and nephews.
She was predeceased by a sister, Charlotte Porrovecchio.
FUNERAL NOTICE — Funeral services for Mrs. Flanagan will take place Saturday, May 30, at 11 from Flynn & Dagnoli-Montagna Home for Funerals, West Chapels, 521 West Main St., North Adams, MA 01247. Burial will follow at noon in Leavitt Cemetery in Charlemont.
A calling hour will be held Saturday morning from 10 to 11 at the funeral home.
