Alfreda Coulter, 83
NORTH ADAMS, Mass. — Alfreda "Freda" Coulter, 83, of Eagle Street died early Monday morning, June 8, 2009, at home.
Born in Adams on Feb. 18, 1926, daughter of Henry and Ida Grenier, she attended the former Notre Dame School there and later the former Williamstown High School.
Mrs. Coulter was employed by Visiting Nurse Association as home health aide. She had earlier worked at the former Boston Store and at the former Sears catalog store.
She was a member of the VFW Auxiliary and of the American Legion. She enjoyed dancing, gardening and reading. Her family was her main source of joy. She will be remembered for her sharp wit, sense of humor and love of life.
Her first and former husband, Norman Shippee, died in 2000.
Her husband, Herbert Coulter, died in 1987.
She leaves two daughters and sons-in-law, Linda and David Maloney of Clarksburg and Nancy and Gary O'Neil of Bennington, Vt.; a son, Vernon Shippee; a sister and brother in-law, *Mr. and Mrs. William McKenna of Williamstown; eight grandchildren and 10 great-grandchildren, and a brother in-law, Lloyd Shippee of Stamford, Vt.
She was predeceased by her brother, George Grenier, formerly of Buffalo N.Y.
FUNERAL NOTICE — Services for Mrs. Coulter will take place Thursday, June 11, at noon at Flynn & Dagnoli-Montagna Home for Funerals, West Chapels, 521 West Main St., North Adams. Burial will take place at a later date in Hancock Cemetery.
Calling hours will be from 11 to noon the day of the funeral. Flowers may be sent and memorial donations are suggested for Dr. George L. Curran Veterans of Foreign Wars Post 996 in care of the funeral home.
