Flora M. Rivard, 84
NORTH ADAMS, Mass. - Flora May Rivard, 84, of 45 Hall St. died Thursday, June 25, 2009, at Williamstown Commons.
Born in North Adams on May 2, 1925, daughter of Charles and Ethel Surr McLagan, she attended schools in Clarksburg and graduated from Drury High School in 1943.
Primarily a homemaker, Mrs. Rivard retired from the former Roberts Co. in 1987. She had worked at the former Sprague Electric Co. during World War II.
She was a member of First United Methodist Church and loved spending time with her grandchildren and great-grandchildren. She was a devoted wife, mother, grandmother and great-grandmother.
Her husband, Robert Roy Rivard, whom she married June 19, 1948, died June 12, 1987.
She leaves a daughter, Sandra Feder of North Adams; four sons, Robert Rivard and his wife, Candace, of Adams, Craig Rivard and his wife, Donna, Jack Rivard and his wife, Susan, and Mark Rivard, all of North Adams; two sisters, Jane L. McLagan and Ada McLagan, both of North Adams, 11 grandchildren and six great-grandchildren.
She was predeceased by her sister Ethel Surr McLagan and her brother, Herbert McLagan, who was killed in Italy during World War II.
FUNERAL NOTICE - Funeral services for Mrs. Rivard will take place Monday, June 29, at 11 a.m. at the Flynn & Dagnoli-Montagna Home for Funerals, West Chapels, 521 West Main St., North Adams. Burial will follow in Southview Cemetery.
Calling hours will be Sunday from 4 to 7 p.m. at the funeral home. Donations are suggested for the American Cancer Society or the American Heart Association through the funeral home
