Stephen F. Zieba Jr., 62

SAVOY, Mass. — Stephen Frederick Zieba Jr., 62, of Main Road died Monday, July, 20, 2009, at home. Born in Adams on April 3, 1947, son of Stephen Frederick Zieba Sr. and May Duncan Zieba Will, he graduated from the former Adams Memorial High School. A Navy veteran of the Vietnam War, he enlisted in 1966 and served two tours in Vietnam aboard the USS Intrepid. Mr. Zieba was employed for eight years by Dufour Transportation and, prior to that, for 26 years at the former General Electric in Pittsfield. He was a proud member of the American Legion. His strong work ethic and love for animals and the outdoors is what he will most be remembered for by his family and loved ones. He lived a full life, said his family, enjoying the outdoor activities that the Berkshires had to offer. He leaves his son and daughter-in-law, Jason Stephen Zieba and Kelly O'Neill Zieba of East Longmeadow; two sisters, Mary Smachetti of Adams and Victoria Kline of North Adams; two brothers, John J. Zieba of Turners Falls and Ian A. Zieba of Savannah, Ga.; his former wife, Beverly Perkins Roberts of Lenox; and his precious granddaughter, April Elizabeth Zieba of East Longmeadow. He was predeceased by an infant daughter, April Ann Zieba, on March 1, 1974. FUNERAL NOTICE — A graveside service for Stephen Zieba will take place at Spruce Grove Cemetery in Savoy on Friday, July 24, at 9 a.m. In lieu of flowers, donations can be sent in his memory to the Northampton Vetarans Affairs Medical Center in care of Flynn & Dagnoli-Montagna Home for Funerals, Central Chapels, 74 Marshall St., North Adams, MA 01247.

Steve was my best man, as I was his. Those were
only two of the special days we shared. He has
been, and will always be, my best friend. Going
to miss you, Steve. Rest in peace.
