John A. Ayers, 67

NORTH ADAMS, Mass. — John Anthony Ayers, 67, of 150 Ashland St. died Wednesday, Aug. 19, 2009, at North Adams Commons. Born in New Haven, Conn., on June 13, 1942, the son of Robert and Mary Eileen Ward Ayers, he attended schools in Connecticut. He was an Army veteran, serving three years. Mr. Ayers worked as a carpenter and roofer in North Adams for 30 years. He enjoyed spending time with his family and taking photographs. He also wrote poetry, and was a great joke teller. His companion of 13 years, Lucinda Robinson Tague, died in March 2006. He leaves his son, Charles Ayers; two stepdaughters, Celeste Tague-Beliveau of North Adams and Nora Tague of Boston; a stepson, Christopher Tague of North Adams; three sisters, Jane Ayers Lint of Cheshire, Conn., Charlene Soby of Connecticut and Sheila Ayers of Queensbury, N.Y.; two brothers, William Ayers of Cheshire, Conn., and David Ayers of the state of Florida, and four grandchildren, Haley Beliveau, Noah Beliveau, Cecelia Risdon and Sienna Risdon. He was predeceased by his siblings Kevin Ayers and Eileen Ayers. FUNERAL NOTICE — A memorial service picnic will be held Sunday, Aug. 23, at Windsor Lake in North Adams. Family and friends are welcome to attend.
