Rosa Varuzzo, 94
NORTH ADAMS, Mass. — Rosa Varuzzo, 94, of Clinton Corners, N.Y., a former longtime resident of North Adams, died Wednesday morning, Sept. 2, 2009, at Northern Dutchess Hospital in Rhinebeck, N.Y.
Born Rosa Rakoff in Bronx, N.Y., on Jan. 7, 1915, she moved to Adams in 1936.
A homemaker, Mrs. Varuzzo and her husband, the late Louis Varuzzo, raised their family in North Adams. She was a loving and devoted wife, mother and grandmother.
Her husband, whom she married in 1937, died on March 16, 1996.
She leaves a daughter, Lois Nansen, with whom she made her home; a son, Louis C. Varuzzo of LaGrangeville, N.Y., seven grandchildren and seven great-grandchildren.
She was predeceased by a sister and a brother.
FUNERAL NOTICE — A graveside service for Mrs. Varuzzo will be held Friday, Sept. 4, at 3 in Southview Cemetery in North Adams. There will be no calling hours.
