Kevin W. Bullett, 54
NORTH ADAMS, Mass. — Kevin William "Bucko" Bullett, 54, of 358 Union St., died at home on Saturday, Jan. 16, 2010, surrounded by family and friends, after a long battle with lung cancer.
Born in North Adams on Jan. 31, 1955, son of local radio sportscaster Bernard R. "Bucky" Bullett and his wife, Lorraine Pinsonneault Bullett, he graduated in 1973 from Drury High School, where he was an outstanding athlete. At one time, he held the Drury baseball pitching records for games won, innings pitched, career strikeouts and strikeouts in a game, having struck out 17 batters in a game against rival Hoosac Valley. He also was a member of the Drury varsity basketball team. A lifelong sports enthusiast, he also loved the Jets, the Mets and the Celtics.
Mr. Bullett spent most of his career working with people with special needs. His first position was in Albany, N.Y., at the Cerebral Palsy Center for the Disabled, where he became an advocate for physically and emotionally challenged youths. This passion stayed with him throughout his life. It was at the center that Mr. Bullett, in his role as teacher's assistant, developed a successful horticultural program for the students.
He leaves a daughter, Brittany Bullett, a son, Jeremy Bullett, his former wife, Nancy Bullett, and cousin Kathy Fletcher, all of North Adams and who cared for him tirelessly during his illness; three brothers, Richard B. Bullett and Dennis R. Bullett, both of North Adams, and Thomas A. Bullett of Millbury, and numerous nieces, nephews, aunts, uncles and cousins.
FUNERAL NOTICE — There will be no calling hours or services for Mr. Bullett, however, there will be a celebration of his life on Sunday, Jan. 31, at the Elks Lodge in North Adams from 1 to 4 p.m. His many friends and friends of the family are invited to attend.
