Harvey W. Brazeau, 89
NORTH ADAMS, Mass. - Harvey William Brazeau, 89, of 586 State Road died Friday, June 1, 2012, at North Adams Regional Hospital.
Born in North Adams on March 24, 1923, son of George and Eva Secor Brazeau, he attended North Adams schools.
Mr. Brazeau was the proprietor of Harvey Brazeau Asphalt Trucking for 68 years. He was known locally as the "Black-Top King," paving his way through life.
He was a communicant of the former Holy Family Church and a member of the Greylock Community Club. He enjoyed sports and was a Boston Red Sox and Boston Celtics fan. He especially enjoyed playing golf and cribbage. Devoted to his family, he was a caring husband, father, grandfather and friend to all who knew him. He will be dearly missed.
His wife, the former Alma Airoldi, whom he married on Oct. 12, 1949, died on Jan. 19, 1986.
He leaves two sons, John A. Brazeau and his wife, Susan, of Monroe, Conn., and David A. Brazeau and his wife, Kathy, of North Adams; a sister, Blanche McConnell of North Adams; two granddaughters, Katelyn Brazeau and Erika Brazeau, and nieces and nephews.
His daughter, Michele Brazeau died Jan. 30, 1968. Two brothers, George Brazeau and Lawrence Brazeau, also predeceased him.
FUNERAL NOTICE - The funeral for Mr. Brazeau will be Monday, June 4, at 10:15 a.m. from Flynn & Dagnoli-Montagna Home for Funerals, West Chapels, 521 West Main St., North Adams, followed by a Funeral Mass at 11 at St. Elizabeth of Hungary Church. Burial will follow in Southview Cemetery.
Calling hours will be Sunday, June 3, from 2 to 5 at the funeral home. Memorial contributions may be made to St. Jude's Children's Research Hospital online or in care of the funeral home.
