PITTSFIELD, Mass. -- The Wahconah football team jumped up three spots in the most recent Western Mass High School Football Media Poll.

But it faces a tough test Friday night against one of three other Berkshire County teams in the top 10.

Wahconah checks in this week at No. 4 in the region, up from No. 7 in Week 2. On Friday evening at Wahconah Park in Pittsfield it will face the Generals in a battle of unbeatens.

Pittsfield moved up from No. 10 to No. 8, the third-highest ranking for a county team.

The poll once again is topped by Springfield Central, which this week garnered all eight first-place votes.

Chicopee Comp and Northampton hold steady at Nos. 2 and 3, respectively.

Then comes Wahconah, which takes over the fourth spot from Taconic, which slipped one notch to No. 5 after suffering a road loss at St. Mary’s of Lynn in Eastern Mass.

Hoosac Valley, meanwhile, slipped a spot to No. 10 after having its bye week last week.

All of the movement in the poll this week was within the top 10, though Mount Greylock picked up four votes to earn a mention in the “others receiving votes” category.
