Strong Second Half Lifts Hoosac Valley Boys Against Gateway
CHESHIRE, Mass. – Dylan Rolhfs scored a pair of goals Monday to lead the Hoosac Valley boys soccer team to a 2-0 win over Gateway.
After a scoreless first half, the Hurricanes made some adjustments to their formation and they paid dividends when Dan Ciernik set up Rolhfs for the game-winner.
Drew Norcross had the assist on the second Rolhfs goal.
“Our back line was solid,” Hoosac Valley coach Blair Mahar said. “The fact that we could rely on them to handle anything Gateway threw at us meant that we could try getting bodies forward to secure the win. It was not the prettiest soccer, but we scratched out the win and now look forward to taking on Drury Thursday.”
Hoosac Valley (3-0) goes to North Adams to face the Blue Devils at 4 p.m. Thursday.
