Higuera Leads Pittsfield Boys Past Hoosac Valley

CHESHIRE, Mass. -- Louis Higuera scored twice and set up a goal as the Pittsfield boys soccer team scored three goals in less than a minute to earn a 3-0 win over Hoosac Valley on Monday.
 
Higuera set up Mike Holmes with a crossing pass that Holmes headed in to break a scoreless tie in the 49th minute.
 
Moments later, Grady Pederson and set up Higuera for the first of two goals in rapid succession to open up the three-goal lead.
 
"I was pleased with our performance in the first half," Hoosac Valley coach Mike Russo said. "we battled and competed pretty hard.
 
"In the second half, Pittsfield just had too much attacking prowess and was able to score the three quick goals"
 
Shane Tierney made three saves to earn the win for the Generals (4-0).
 
John Horton stopped seven shots for the Hurricanes (2-2-4), who host St. Joseph on Wednesday.
 
Pittsfield goes to Mount Greylock on Tuesday.
