CHICOPEE, Mass. -- The Lenox boys soccer team will begin the defense of its Western Massachusetts Division 4 title as the top seed in a nine-team field announced on Wednesday at Chicopee High School.

The Millionaires (7-9-2) will face either No. 8 Smith Vocational (9-8-1) or No. 9 Smith Vocational (9-8-1) in the quarter-finals.

The winner of that game will face either No. 4 Mount Everett (9-4-1) or No. 5 Hopkins (10-7-1) in the semi-finals. The Eagles will host the Hawks in the quarters.

It is an 11-team field in Division 1, where Pittsfield (11-3-3) earned the third-seed. The Generals have a bye through the first round and will host either No. 6 West Springfield (8-5-5) or No. 11 Commerce (7-7-4) in the quarter-finals.

Three Berkshire County boys teams are in the Western Mass Division 3 field, led by third-seeded Monument Mountain.

The Spartans (11-5-1) just missed out on the 14-team tournament's two byes, which went to No. 1 Pope Francis (13-2-3) and second-seeded Belchertown (12-5-1).

Monument will host No. 14 Franklin Tech (16-2) in the first round.

Sixth-seeded Mount Greylock (8-6-2) also is home in the first round, where it will host No. 11 Wahconah (8-8-1). The winner of that Berkshire North rematch will head to either Monument Mountain or Franklin Tech in the quarters.

All MIAA tournament seedings and pairings are tentative until 24 hours after the seeding meeting, to allow time for appeals.
