PITTSFIELD, Mass. -- The Northampton boys soccer team Friday converted a penalty kick in the 43rd minute and went on to a 2-0 win over Pittsfield.

"I thought we played really well, did everything defensively correct," Pittsfield coach Ryan Wanek said. "The boys were tough and gritty throughout the game. We executed our game plan to a 'T.' It was just unfortunate to have a few things not go our way."

John Mullen stopped six shots in goal for the Generals.

Pittsfield (0-2) is at Minnechaug on Tuesday.
