Pittsfield Blanks Amherst
PITTSFIELD, Mass. – Reese Cook-Dubin made six saves Tuesday to backstop the Pittsfield boys soccer team to a 3-0 win over Amherst at Kirvin Park.
Quinn Schaller opened the scoring midway through the first half with an assist from Bash Sowe.
“We’ve had some trouble this season with starting games slowly, so we emphasized a quick start and we were able to do that today,” Pittsfield coach Ryan Wanek said. “Our defensive pressure all game was very good, making it tough for them to turn up field.”
In the first minute of the second half, Amherst was tagged with an own goal to fall behind, 2-0.
Kevin Campo put the game out of reach with a goal in the 65th minute.
Pittsfield (2-8-1) goes to Monument Mountain on Thursday.
“We now need to continue this momentum into our next fixtures and end the season strong heading into post season play,” Wanek said.
