LENOX, Mass. -- Shannon Meisberger made 12 saves Wednesday to backstop the Lenox girls soccer team to a 5-0 win over rival Lee on opening night.

“The girls were excited to get out on the field again,” Lenox coach Kyle Zinchuk said. “Our midfield did a terrific job of controlling the play and finding through balls. We spread the ball around the entire field and got everybody involved in the play, shown also by the fact that all of our goals were assisted because they came from great build-up and movement of the ball.”

Julie Pehlert scored two goals, and Tova Brown had a goal and two assists.

Pehlert provided all the offense the Millionaires (1-0) needed in the fourth minute when she converted an assist from Abby Schilling.

Schilling later scored a goal of her own, as did Shelby Lynch. Erin Czelusniak and Nicole Gamberoni each provided an assist.

Briana Hawley made 14 saves for Lee (0-1), which hosts Taconic on Friday.

Lenox goes to Pope Francis on Friday.
