Cooney Leads Spartans Past Drury
NORTH ADAMS, Mass. – Mabel Cooney recorded a hat trick Tuesday to lead the Monument Mountain girls soccer team to a 5-2, come-from-behind win over Drury.
The Blue Devils got on the board first with a successful penalty kick from Lily Mirante and went up, 2-0, when Megan McGrath scored in the 17th minute.
But Cooney scored her first of the game four minutes later and tied the game with 8 minutes, 16 seconds left until half-time on an assist from Gabriela Mora (three assists).
Mercedes Raifstanger (two goals, one assist) put the Spartans ahead with a goal early in the second half and added another before Cooney capped the scoring by completing her hat trick.
Ynes Bourdon earned the win in goal with nine saves.
Drury keeper Addisyn Shepard stopped 19 shots in the loss.
The Blue Devils (0-4-1) go to Wahconah on Thursday.
Monument Mountain (3-3) hosts Pittsfield on Friday.
