NORTH ADAMS, Mass. -- What was supposed to be a big Tri-County showdown between two of the league's top teams ended up being a sneak preview of what's to come later in the season.

The McCann Tech and St. Mary's girls' soccer teams fought a driving rain and a sloppy field before settling for a scoreless draw after the game was called at halftime due to worsening field conditions. Senior Becky Daniels made six saves in net for McCann (4-2-1, 4-0-1 in the Tri-County), while Emily Brown stopped five shots for the Saints to each earn a shutout.

The two teams will meet again at St. Mary's on October 18. The Hornets next play at Pathfinder at 4 p.m. on Tuesday.
