SPRINGFIELD, Mass. -- Cheyenne Alcombright scored twice, and the McCann Tech girls soccer team scored a major victory with Friday's 3-0 win at Renaissance.

"This was the biggest game of the year in the Tri-County League," McCann coach Brian Dowling said. "McCann avenged an earlier 2-1 loss, and it pushed McCann into a first-place tie with Renaissance."

That loss back on Sept. 9 was the only one so far for this year for the Hornets (8-1-1).

Alanza Quinones made 11 saves to earn the Hornets' fifth shutout of the year.

Lexi Andrews got McCann off to a quick start with a goal in the third minute on an assist from Monique Martel.

Alcombright scored twice before half-time with assists from Allie Gibeau and Aimee Dowling.

McCann Tech hosts St. Mary's on Thursday.
