SHEFFIELD, Mass. -- After a tough 2-1 loss to Monument Mountain on Tuesday, the players of the Drury girls' soccer team needed something to get that bad taste out of their mouths. The Blue Devils found a game with a little better flavor on Thursday, as Molly Meczywor's team earned a 3-0 win at Mount Everett to sweep the season series between the two South Division teams.

"Mount Everett packed it in with five to six defenders at a time," Meczywor said. "But once we successfully went long, we had plenty of opportunities. Everyone on the team contributed to this win, which was nice."

After defeating the Eagles (3-8) by a score of 7-0 at home last month, Drury (3-6-1) had to work a little harder to find the back of the net the second time around. Senior Chelsea DeGroff managed to do that in the 29th minute, however, scoring off of a pass from classmate Danielle Racette following one of the Blue Devils' six corner kicks on the day.

Despite holding a 16-2 edge in shots in the game, the visitors weren't able to increase their lead until senior defender Maeve Denning scored her first varsity goal of the season 10 minutes into the second half. Junior Cori Ghidotti closed out the scoring in the 76th minute, registering her team-leading ninth goal of the year on classmate Morgan Lamarre's first assist of the season.

Senior goalie Ali Tatro only needed to make two saves to earn her third shutout of the year for the Blue Devils. Sam Hoover and Natasha MacLeay combined to stop 13 shots in net for Everett.

Meczywor also said junior Kasha Wissman had a nice game on defense for Drury, which next hosts Wahconah at 4 p.m. on Monday.
