Monument Girls, Lenox Boys Receive High Seeds in Soccer Tourney

GRANBY, Mass. -- The Monument Mountain girls soccer team is the only No. 1 seed from Berkshire County in the Western Mass tournament pairings released on Wednesday afternoon.
 
The Spartans (11-2-2) are seeded first in Division 3, where they received a bye through the first round and await the winner of a first-round match between No. 9 Hoosac Valley (10-7-1) and NO. 8 Mahar (12-5-1).
 
The highest seeded boys team from the Berkshires is Lenox in Division 4. The Millionaires (13-2-3) await their quarter-final opponent, which either will be No. 10 Pioneer Valley (9-7-2) or No. 7 Hopkins (7-9-2).
 
In Division 1 boys, the Pittsfield Generals (9-3-6) are seeded fifth and take on No. 4 Ludlow (11-4-3) in the quarter-finals.
 
In Division 3, the Drury boys (13-2-3) got the No. 6 seed and a home game in the first round on Saturday at 2:30 p.m. The Blue Devils will host No. 11 Mahar (8-8-2) for the right to meet perennial power and third-seeded Belchertown (10-7-1) in the quarters.
 
Monument Mountain’s boys are seeded seventh in D3. The Spartans (9-6-2) host No. 10 Pathfinder (11-5-1) on Friday at 6 p.m., with the winner taking on No. 2 Southwick (12-3-1).
 
In Division 4, the Mount Everett boys are seeded sixth. The Eagles (12-4-2) open at No. 3 Granby (16-2) in the quarter-final round.
 
Mount Everett’s girls, meanwhile, are seeded third in their D4 tournament. The Eagles (14-2-2) open at home in the quarters against No. 6 Smith Vocational (14-3-1). The winner of that game could face No. 7 McCann Tech (12-6) in the semi-finals, but first the State Voc finalist Hornets have to get by No. 2 Gateway (12-2-4) on Monday at 6 p.m. in the quarters.
 
On the other side of the D4 girls bracket, No. 4 Lenox gets a home game in the quarter-finals against No. 5 Hopkins (13-3-2).
 
In addition to Monument Mountain and Hoosac Valley in the Division 3 girls field, Wahconah (11-5-2) checks in with the No. 4 seed and will host No. 5 Hampshire (9-5-2) in the quarter-finals.
