PITTSFIELD, Mass. – Gracie Cormier put down 13 kills Wednesday to lead the Taconic volleyball team to a marathon five-set win over Wahconah.

Cormier served seven aces and pulled up seven digs in the 25-19, 18-25, 30-28, 27-29, 15-13 win.
“Jill Koomson, our right side attacker, deserves the credit for getting us the fifth set win with three kills off of beautiful back sets from Frances Macioge (14 assists),” Taconic coach Lance Fyfe said. “Jill ended the night with her season high five kills.”

Kiara Burston passed out 10 assists, and Isla DiMassimo recorded 12 digs to go with six aces and a pair of kills. Mollie Crawford was all over the stat sheet with eight digs, four aces, three kills and a pair of assists.

“It's been a long time since Taconic beat Wahconah, and it sure did take every bit of our energy and effort to do it tonight,” Fyfe said. “Our weakness tonight was our serving with only 76% staying in play. We gave away 27 points on bad serves, and that makes it tough to walk away with a win. But on the brighter side, we fought hard all night and did a lot of really smart things.”

Taconic (6-3) is at Drury on Friday.

Wahconah (4-7) is at Mount Greylock on Monday.
