WILLIAMSTOWN, Mass. – It was a family affair for the Mount Greylock volleyball team on Tuesday as it opened the Western Massachusetts Class C tournament with a three-set win over Greenfield.

Kelsey MacHaffie served 10 aces for the Mounties in a 25-10, 25-8, 25-12 win.

It was a night highlighted by the opportunity for Jilly DeChaine to sub in for her sister Julia and Jamie Sweren to replace sister Kylie, Mount Greylock coach Greg Geyer said.

Another theme for the night: sportsmanship.

“"My hat is off to Greenfield for their camaraderie and sportsmanship after driving a long way to the match,” Geyer said. “Every single player on the team took time out to shake everyone's hand and in spite of the match outcome they were always working, smiling and having fun."

Julia DeChaine served nine aces, and Jacqueline Brannan served seven aces to go with four kills. Gianna Pesce had three kills and a pair of aces.

Top-seeded Mount Greylock (18-0) will host Franklin Tech in the regional semi-finals on Thursday.
