Pittsfield's Nda Third in 100 at Division 1 Sectional

FITCHBURG, Mass. -- Emmanuel Nda placed third in the 100 meter dash to lead the Pittsfield boys track and field team to a 15th-place finish at the Central/Western Massachusetts Division 1 Championships on Saturday.
 
Nda stopped the clock at 11.26 seconds. The event was won by Shepherd Hill’s Bryan Santos in 10.90.
 
Pittsfield’s sprinters finished second in the 4-by-100 relay with a time of 43.59 seconds, four-tenths of a second behind winner Amherst-Pelham.
 
The Generals also got a fourth-place finish from Connor Hayford in the javelin with a throw of 158 feet, 7 inches. West Springfield’s Noah Singer set a meet record in winning with a mark of 175-3.
 
In the girls meet, also run on Saturday at Fitchburg State University, Pittsfield had its best finishes in the mile, where Cami Diehl and Megan Francoeur placed 17th and 18th, respectively, finishing in 5:56.69 and 5:57.29.
