Mount Greylock Girls Win Wave at State Qualifier

DEVENS, Mass. -- Both Mount Greylock and Lenox cross country teams plus the Monument Mountain girls Saturday qualified for next week's Division 3 State Championship with strong runs at the qualifier meet on Saturday.

 

Mount Greylock's girls won their wave with 53 points, beating runner-up Bromfield by 28 points, as the Mounties placed six runners in the top 20.

 

Bridget Holland led the way for the Mount Greylock girls, running a ninth-place time of 20 minutes, 55.91 seconds. Riley Mae Dickinson was five-hundredths of a second behind her to finish 10th.

 

Lenox's girls were third in Wave C, two points behind Bromfield, behind a sixth-place finish by Nora Schoeny (20:40.37).

 

In the boys Wave C race, Mount Gryelock and Lenox finished third and fifth, respectively, in a 24-team field. The top seven teams in each wave advanced to next week's state meet back at Fort Devens.

 

Finnegan Voisin led the Mount Greylock boys, hitting the finish line in 17:05.53 to finish ninth.

 

Lenox's Benjamin Harwood was the fastest Berkshire County boy in Wave C, clocking a time of 14:44.56 to finish sixth.

 

In Wave B, Anna Desilets placed 27th in 22:10.21 to lead Monument Mountain to a sixth-place team finish that extends the Spartans' season to the last day of the season.

 

They will be joined next week by Monument Mountain's Everett Pacheco, who will have a chance to defend his 2024 individual state title after placing sixth on Saturday with a time of 17:00.53, giving him a chance to run as an individual at the state meet.

 

The top 10 runners not from a school that qualifies for next week as a team each get an individual spot on the starting line next week.

 

Wahconah's boys finished just out of the money, placing 10th behind Noah Wesley's 16th-place finish, which makes him an individaul qualifer for next week.

 

Likewise in Wave A, Taconic's boys ran a strong 11th place finish. Collin Norton paced the Thunder with an 18th place finish.

 

Norton qualified as an individual for next week's meet as did Pittsfield's Cohen Zahn, who finished third with a time of 16:58.10.
