PITTSFIELD, Mass. — Sophie Burnell won two events to lead the Monument Mountain girls swimming team to a 99-63 win over Wahconah on Monday afternoon.

Burnell won the 50-yard freestyle in 32.7 seconds and the 500 free in 5:31.6.

The Spartans won each event and stayed undefeated in dual meets this winter.

Monument placed 1-2-3 in two relays and first and second in a third, where its third quartet DQ’d after recording the third-fastest time in the event.

For Wahconah, Michaela DeFoe placed second in the 100 freestyle, clocking a time of 1:12.6 behind Monument’s Olivia Rubino (1:10.6).

Despite the wide margin of victory for the Spartans, Wahconah assistant coach Dorianna Reardon said there were positives for her team to take away from the meet.

“We had a lot of personal bests, and I feel that we learned a lot from watching the swimmers at Monument Mountain,” Reardon said.

In the boys meet, Monument’s Nick Gray and Brandon Louison each was a double winner in a 55-17 win.

Gray won the 50 free (28.6) and 100 breast stroke (1:17.1). Louison won the 100 free (56.2) and 100 back (1:04.5).
