Late Amherst Scores Sink Mount Everett Hockey Team

SHEFFIELD, Mass. -- Justin Masteralexis scored twice in the final three minutes Saturday to give the Amherst hockey team a 7-5 win over Mount Everett.
 
The Eagles (0-4) rallied from a 3-0 first-period deficit to tie the game at 3-3, 4-4 and 5-5 in the third.
 
Dylan Boomsma, Kyle Benzie and Cam Raifstanger each scored for Mount Everett in the second period to make it 3-3.
 
After Amherst’s Kouji Ishida scored the first of his two goals, Boomsma scored his second midway through the third to tie the game at 4-4.
 
Ishida put the Hurricanes back on top, but Raifstanger scored the equalizer with 3 minutes, 44 seconds left to play.
 
Masteralexis scored his first goal a minute later to give Amherst a 6-5 lead, and he added an empty-net goal with 11 seconds left to provide the final margin.
 
Cole Duval made 23 saves for Mount Everett, which was outshot, 29-19.
 
The Eagles host Southwick on Thursday.
